Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Acupuncture/ Moxibustion

In Chinese medicine, enhancing vital energy, nourishing the blood, and strengthening the spirit can be part of the therapeutic strategy.

Traditional Chinese Medicine considers symptoms of fatigue and exhaustion such as lack of vitality, tiredness, reduced activity, dizziness, and sensitivity to cold as originating from weakened organs. The kidney Yang is the most important organ in this case as CFS is often manifests itself as a weakened kidney yang. Other organs affected are spleen, liver, or lung.

The basic treatment is moxibustion, which could be combined with acupuncture to stimulate the affected organs from their depleted state. An acupuncturist may undertake a series of treatments to attempt to normalize and balance the immune system.
